Making Simple Simpler
Building a new UI paradigm in Squarespace was no easy task, but thanks to the great work our team did with developing standards and visual languages in Squarespace 7, I had a solid foundation to approach the unique challenge of creating a totally new type of editor for Squarespace users. Of course the whole thing was helped by having beautiful templates made by the likes of Billy Sweeney, Kenneth Cachia, and the Squarespace template team.
In order to provide a consistent experience that reenforces the value of having beautifully made pages crafted by designers for speicif use, the UI was build to be edited in the abstract. The main menu built modularly to support the different features of each Cover Page, and split among feature sections to be future proof should new types of Cover Pages be added in the future.
